On Netflix this was described as a comedy, not a dark comedy as it is here-- which is much more appropriate. So I think I went in with the wrong mindset. However, I think the film itself was also confused about what it was supposed to be.
The comedy was largely missing for me, there was tons of awkward, but then it veered off in to depressingly weird and even uncomfortable and then became this huge diatribe about the evils perpetrated against animals.
Too preachy.
