Review of Year of the Dog (2007) by Brian W — 25 Sep 2008

I didn't outright hate the movie, it's just that I can't think of a single thing, aside from the abundance of dogs in the flick, that I liked. I've never been a huge fan of Molly Shannon and even though she tones it down for this flick, she just gives off this creepy cat lady vibe that prevents me from liking her.

I also never have and probably never will like Regina King. John C. Reilly was almost a total douchebag except for in the beginning. I liked Laura Dern but she wasn't anything special in this flick.

And Peter Sarsgaard was likable up until he inadvertently murdered a dog. The characters weren't very interesting or enjoyable to watch, the story was weak and the ending, while a logical and satisfactory conclusion, didn't have the emotional impact it should've.

Not the shittiest flick I've ever seen but a complete disappointment, nonetheless.
