Mike White delivers a good script every time. You can really tell how talented he is with establishing great characters within a plot, with all their wonderful quirks, faults and redeeming qualities. His ability to do this makes his films feel very real.
Hats off to Molly Shannon. I wasn't sure if she would be able to pull this off, but came through with flying colors. So many actors in this one that I love seeing on the screen: Regina King, John C.
Reilly, Peter Sarsgaard......... Not near as funny as School of Rock (but it's not trying to be), and not quite as gripping of a plot as The Good Girl (more subtle material here), but solid from start to finish.
Really enjoyed it.
