Review of Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) by Laura N — 12 Apr 2009
I LOVED this movie! I would have NEVER imagined James Cagney as a song and dance man, but...WOW...that's all I have to say. He was freaking FANTASTIC! Man, Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire have NOTHING on him. But instead he is remembered for playing the tough guy in gangster movies. Go figure.
And what an amazing life George M. Cohan lived. Although I imagine it is a sanitized version of his life. Still it was a very interesting and entertaining story.
