Review of Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) by Dave L — 09 Nov 2011
A biopic on Congressional Medal of Honor winner George M. Cohan. The film is dripping in national sentimentality and meets the definition of patriotic. While this may cause some to criticize the movie, there is something very classic and timeless to this film.
The US was involved in WWII and James Cagney, known for his gangster performances in the 1930s, steals the show with an incredible performance. The guy can dance.
