Review of Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) by Paul C — 03 Dec 2009
This was a big movie for James Cagney. He played a lot of serious roles and this one was more fun. Plus he did something new that most people didn't expect from him. He danced in the film, and danced really well.
He had a crazy little dance that was very interesting to watch. The movie is full of catching music and fun sing and dance scenes. It has a nice true and touching story in the end about a writer named George Cohan who could not catch a break.
His talent to make award winning plays and great songs ended up making him big. The rest of the cast is great. From Jeanne Cagney's voice to George Tobias's comic relief. This was a very nice film.
