Review of Yaji & Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims (2005) by Zachary L — 21 Jun 2008
Be forewarned, this is not for the uninitiated and not your typical Japanese cinema. If you've seen such movies as Happiness of the Katakuris or anime adaptations like Chromatie High (or anime in general), then maybe you'll know what to expect.
An off beat buddy film about two gay wanderers in feudal Japan trying to cure one's drug addiction. Funny and trippy at the same time in that way that only Japanese cinema could deliver. Worth seeing but keep an open mind if this is one of your first forays in Japanese cinema.
