Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Bob S — 22 Jun 2009
Not typical for coming of age movies. Julio & Tenoch are two young Mexican pals with nothing but girls on their mind. Luisa is about 10 years their senior and with nothing but her insurmountable obstacles on her mind.
The three embark on a road trip full of manifestos, machismo and sexual banter. I enjoyed the dialogue which was both humourous (guys talking a big game) and intense (when women started to divide a friendship).
I canâ??t stress enough how annoying and nonsensical the narration was â?? and, trust me, nothing was lost in the translation. I can see the story not appealing to some, but itâ??s worth checking out for the outstanding direction, acting, cinematography and script.
