The film deals with the issue that isn't dealt much in cinema with empathy and purely good intentions. Alex feels uncertain, troubled and isolated because of his or her ambiguous gender identity while the other character, Alvaro, seems to have doubts with his own sexuality too.

I was completely touched with what the father says about his daughter: to him, she is perfect the way she is, no matter what surgeons and other people think about her condition.
