Review of xXx: State of the Union (2005) by Adam K — 24 Oct 2009
Xander Cage is taken out and the NSA attacked, forcing Samuel L. Jackson to recruit a new Triple X agent, Darius Stone, to face off against Secretary of Defense George Deckert and the miltary coup he plans on leading during the Presidents State of the Union address (basically its Barak Obama's worse nightmare).
Decient if gimmicky action movie that replaces the extreme sports bent of the first with gangsta rap. Actings nothing to speak of (even the normally good Willem Defoe), Jackson is Jackson, Scott Speedman is waisted (see Adoration or Weirdsville for a better example of his work). Not as good as the first and director Lee Tamahori goes a little overboard with the CGI at the end. Personally I was routing for the army (though that might have somethingto do with Ice Cube's speach to the car thieves to go fight for their rights to jack the finest cars...hmmm). Rental.
