Review of xXx: State of the Union (2005) by Donald N — 10 Dec 2007
XXX: State of the Union would be a great idea for a video game. Endless amounts of mindless action, only the smallest of plot development scenes to propel itself into more action, and the glazing over of the eyes after the first hour.
Ice Cube isn't any better than Vin Diesel in the role, but the main protaganist is still supported by Sam Jackson's Gibbons. I am usually fascinated with what Jackson does, so it fun to see him nonetheless.
What I can't understand is what Willem Dafoe is doing here. I guess he's just paying the mortgage, as he surrounds himself with respected filmmakers most of the time. But once again, Dafoe is a familiar face.
so there's points for comfort. Not much else to say other than passable generic action. Do what I did: wait until it appears on TV and forget where you put the remote because that's the only reason you can justify.
