Review of xXx (2002) by Iris F — 07 Dec 2012
Toby Lee Shavers: So, how long have you been a secret agent?
Xander Cage: Two days.
Toby Lee Shavers: Man that sucks!
Xander Cage: Yeah but it beats jail.
Toby Lee Shavers: No I mean I spent 3 and half years in some windowless NSA room. I mean I got a degree. I got a degree from MIT. And I bet they picked you up pumping iron in San Quentin?
Xander Cage: Have you ever been punched in the face for talking too much?
Xander Cage is an extreme sports athelete recruited by the government on a special mission.
Vin Diesel: Xander Cage.
Asia Argento: Yelena.
Marton Csokas: Yorgi.
Samuel L. Jackson: Agent Augustus Gibbons.
It mirrors the old James Bond Style with a rough manly spin on things in the shape of Vin Diesel.
Fans of the Fast & the Furious will note similarities through the fantastic cinematography. Rob Cohen did a very good job!
Love how the film transitions from action-frenzied yet flows so well. It's got explosions, shooting, and it's easy to interface. The rebellious hero in all his glory.
Love the scenes on the motorbike, the dive of the bridge, the car chases, the over the top shoot outs, the skate boarding on the rail, the snow boarding down a cascading avalanche on a mountain...to name but a few.
It's adrenaline pumping right from the word go and the roller-coaster just speeds up, an action movie for action fans hands down.
Vin Diesel is no James Bond, he is without a doubt a rough tough macho man.
