Review of xXx (2002) by Janet C — 15 Mar 2012
The premise is good but the way the film has been written and directed is noticeably poor. It's corny in a 1980's kind of way and the action sequence ironic one-liners are cringe worthy.
The acting is certainly some of the worst ive seen in a long while - the hench-men to the main 'baddie' act with the same integrity and realism as the 5 year olds in my sons school play.
Samuel L Jackson pops up now and again and is generally too great an actor to have been caught up in this but you can see the way the film has been directed has stifled even the immense talent of Jackson.
Vin Diesel was the only reason I continued to watch this all the way through and yet I'm not sure why! Maybe he's what they call my 'guilty pleasure'!
