Review of XX (2017) by Halley B — 19 Feb 2017
Haters can step off--this film provides a fresh perspective on a genre that many, apparently, were not ready to see. After years of seeing horror movies presented through one lens it's refreshing to see new voices with different experiences handle the genre so adeptly.
In spirit, in storytelling, in atmosphere, these short films surpass much of the self aggrandizing junk that's been shelled out in the world of Indie Horror over the past few years. The ladies who wrote and directed these features show a full grasp on the basic elements that make good scary movies so chilling, and dish them out with ease, creating an anthology series that is as smart and funny as it is truly creepy.
