Review of Xanadu (1980) by Ronda F — 24 Sep 2007
This is one of my favourite ever films. I'm not sure which bit I like the most - Olivia Newton-John's floaty muse outfits and awesome Farrah Fawcett flicks, or the brilliant LegoMan acting of the lead male actor (who the hell can ever remember his name?).
It's one of those movies that really makes me feel all girly - and that's a rare thing so it must be good.
I actually think the music is pretty awesome (god bless ELO) and although people do have some merit in bagging this movie out in terms of plot etc, there are so many good bits about it that I don't think people should write it off completely.
I mean, Gene Kelly, for example. What an absolute champ this guy is in this flick. He's almost a GILF in this film as far as I'm concerned.
And as wooden as the forgettable lead guy is, it adds a bit of charm to the flick I reckon. I quite enjoy knowing that someone as talentless as that guy can even score a pay packet in Hollywood.
Anyway, if you hate this movie, you've got a heart of stone :D.
