Review of Xanadu (1980) by J M — 25 Jun 2008
A quasi-masterpiece in it's own right, despite it's many contradictions. ON-J is smokin', Kelly is mackin' it the old-fashioned way, and Michael Beck is dead weight. No charisma at all.
There are moments of pure bliss among the batch of overlong dance sequences. All things considered, I admire the decision to go all the way with the unusual aesthetics. It can be a lot of fun to watch under the right circumstances.
