Review of Xanadu (1980) by Bastet 0 — 16 Feb 2009
This is one of the few movies I've seen where I'm left wondering if I liked it or not- which is difficult for me to realize because usually, the more sparkly, neon and gaudy and 80s movie is, the chances of me liking it increase. Certain parts of the soundtrack are catchy, and very obvious that it's ELO involved in it. Put the storyline is pretty basic- unexpected forbidden love creeps up upon two people with bad hair and a penchant for roller skating. Definitely better suited for Broadway than the big screen, but with the clean content, Disney cartoon inspired interlude, and psychedelic laser light shows, could definitely sit the kids down in front of it without worry.
Funnily enough, I thought I spotted Heather Locklear's hairdo on ON-J at the end performance- who'dve though that style would come full circle after 2 decades?
