Review of Xanadu (1980) by Ken S — 06 Oct 2010
Roller disco. Olivia Newton-John. Gene Kelly. Some guy who looks like Heath Ledger. Thin plotting. Awful dialogue.
Also, a production number that pretty much symbolizes the entire decade of the 80s: Weird rock music + 40s aesthetic.
And the last 15 minutes of Olivia Newton-John tap dancing, then wearing a ridiculous Western outfit, then wearing a ridiculous space outfit almost make up for the cartoon sequence in the middle. Almost.
Overall, it's a must-see. Also a must-not-see-again.
