Review of Xanadu (1980) by Nickels K — 15 Jul 2007
I know I'm not supposed to review cult classics, but Xanadu was so bad! It didn't even have a conflict till the end and then they solved it randomly with no explination.
I feel bad for Micheal Beck and Gene Kelly, both probably needed the work at the time, but Olivia and ELO! Come on! Anyways A.I. is amazing, I thought it was supposed to be bad, but (although mostly Kubrick's vision) it is by far Spielberg's most artsy film to date.
I know that isn't saying much, but it is quite a brilliant film. They made a depressing adult fairy tale that takes place in the near future, and it works amazingly. I Heart Huckabees is hillarious! It's a comedy poking fun at exitencialism and it works.
The whole film is equally funny, cause it never stops to be serious. It's a brilliant farce that only so many can get the jokes (hence it not being the biggest box office smash). Anyways I think from now on I'm going to just shorten reviews and not have long ones like I did before.
That way I can keep up. Peace. .
