Review of X2 (2003) by Thomas L — 24 Jul 2014
This is a truly an improvement upon the original. First off, I've never read the comic books about X-men, and I've only watched X-men: evolution on TV a long time ago (and loved it back then). So I do not know how true ths is to the source material.
But regardless of that, this was one amazing superhero film. The story was very interesting and easy to follow. It was hard for me to find any nitpicks on the plot. And I think all the characters got the personalities they deserved from the script.
Every single actor does an excellent job here.
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen kills it as Xavier and Magneto. And Hugh Jackman really steals the show as Wolverine. Man, what a performance!
But what really makes the difference is Nightcrawler, who is done absolutely perfectly. Alan Cumming totally steals the show here. The make-up, the voice plus his catholic behaviour really mae him stand out. And he was also very well written. So it was a huge pleasure to see my favorite x-men executed so well.
I also like the story a lot. It was exciting to see our heoes deal with this imminent threat of the humans, plus the treachery of Magneto.
