Review of X2 (2003) by Jacob W — 25 Mar 2016
Some will wonder why I rated this the way I did, but I have my reasons. Like my Spider-Man 2 review, the reason why I love this movie is because if I made this movie completely animated, and slapped it into a comic book, it would play out beautifully. In regards to the X-Men early 2000's trilogy, this one's clearly the best of the three. The CGI is way improved in this one compared to the first installment and the story is solid. The production team of this movie did a great job of making Wolverine stand out among the rest while not overshadowing the team too much. On top of that, Nightcrawler. Not only is he awesome to watch, but the writers managed to give him a key role in the story which played out very nicely. The rest of the characters each manage to have some level of depth and have a "shining moment" in the movie. It's quite surprising that it was done well considering that there are, what would usually be considered, too many characters to handle. However, because the writers and production team were awesome, they manage to work with all of them in the appropriate portions that each character deserved.
Overall, there was romance, action, suspense, tragedy, and comedy. The character's were used beautifully and I always enjoy revisiting this film! This movie has everything a comic fan should want and it's definitely worth watching and buying on blu-ray.
