I think the second x-men film is better than the first. Some lazy writing is still there and I do think they take some easy options but I think the action is much more investing and well handled and the stakes are much higher.
Another thing I love is that this film could easily have been overcrowded with the likes of Wolverine, Rogue, Xavier, Magneto, Storm, Cyclops and others all getting lots of screen time, but it's not.
They balance it out really well, despite the lack of development, all of the characters are extremely likeable.
