Review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) by Scott A — 23 Aug 2013

I've seen this a few times now and I have upgraded my rating some each time. It seems to get better with each viewing, but some of it is still a mess.

I really dig Jackman here like always, and while I have hated Schreiber in the past, he is pretty good here. I liked that they tried to bring in a lot of other characters, but some like Gambit are nothing more than a long cameo by a bad actor. Huston is no Brian Cox either. Will I Am plays a lame character, and Reynolds is funny in his few minutes he gets onscreen. I liked Collins and Monaghan here, but once again...characters are given nothing to do. Cyclops is again wasted. The Blob gets a fun scene though.

The action scenes are decent but everything was shown in the trailers. Some of the CGI is awful, especially the claws, which have looked good in the first three X-Men film, so...?

It's not as awful as I always thought, but nowhere as good as say First Class.
