Review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) by Danny O — 03 Aug 2014

Origins Wolverine is a sloppy messy of a movie. How can anybody take the awesome character of Wolverine (even though the movies bad Hugh Jackman gives it his all as usual) and make a completely uninteresting movie? I didn't know that was possible.

First off, the movie is all over the place. The opening scene is a montage of all the wars Wolverine and his half brother? (Still not clear how they were related) have fought. It's a two minute sequence to save time, but that is the movie's most compelling part, and the should have stretched the first 20-30 minutes and they should have cut all the boring "Wolverine living a life as a logger in Canada with his girlfriend" crap.

All the interesting facts teased about Wolverine's past in the previous X-Men movies are either glossed over or resolved in a hasty manner. The script and effects are laughable and there are way too many mutants, some not even making sense in regards to the X-Men timeline.

A few somewhat fun action sequences can't save this movie for what it is, a crushing disappointment. X-Men Origins - Wolverine gets 2/5 stars (C-).
