Review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) by Lee G — 17 Dec 2014
Underwhelming but overly criticized solo Wolverine film is ironically most entertaining when the titular character is teamed up with other mutants. Marvel comic favorites Deadpool and Gambit make their first screen appearances with mixed results.
Ryan Reynolds is great as Deadpool in the first act, but his bizarre portrayal in the final sequence is a disheartening departure from the source material. Opening credit sequence of Jackman and Schreiber fighting in every single American war is the highlight of the film.
