Review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) by Jeje W — 01 Mar 2017
X-Men Origins - Wolverine was a nice attempt at giving us a good origin story and I hated it. It drifts from Wolverine's original story that we've seen in the other X-Men films so much that it seems like it belongs in a completely different franchise.
Hugh Jackman does a good job as Wolverine, as always, Ryan Reynolds is good as Wade Wilson and only Wade Wilson, not that stupid fake Deadpool. But other than that, everybody else kind of sucks. Especially Lynn Collins as Silver Fox.
She is terrible in this movie. The action is stupid and makes zero sense. I barely got what was going on and there were so many missed opportunities. Give us a good Wolverine backstory. Nobody wants to see him get the adamantium for the millionth time.
The way the film is shot really bothered me. It reminded me of a Resident Evil movie. The film gives us just a few milliseconds to establish what the heck we're seeing before it cuts to another stupidly short shot.
If this was all I would talk about in this movie, my rating would probably be something like a 4/10. But the movie was just so utterly boring that I'm gonna have to give X-Men Origins - Wolverine a 1.
5/10.
