Review of X-Men: First Class (2011) by Patrick C — 17 Sep 2013
I was surprised with this film despite the recent departure of the X-Men brand films from anything resembling an X-Man story. The cast seemed to work well and despite some changes to the legitimate "first class", it is a nice alternative view of how the team is assembled. The acting was very good in general with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender leading (as they should). I can't help feel a bit of taint for this approach in light of the other X-Men movies and I found that once I treated this movie as its own entity...it worked for me.
Good movie and hopefully a sign that Disney and Marvel are going to invest more in characters than in CG.
