Review of X-Men: First Class (2011) by Jonas K — 10 Nov 2013
This is easily my favourite X-men movie and might I say one of the best comic book movies I have ever seen? It`s in my top 5 for sure. One of the many reasons I love this movie is the characters. They are so well portraide thanks to great casting, amazing performances and a well-written screenplay.
The dialouge just works and you can clearly see the actors fit their respective roles. This is probably the most story driven movie out of the X-men franchise and while there are action packed sequences it`s not as many as in let`s say X-men 2 or The last stand.
I personally think it has a good balance where the story ark takes it`s time to build up to a nice conclusion. Keep in mind this is a prequal and you will get in my opinion satisfying backstories to your favourite heroes/villains but if you haven`t seen the other movies I strongly recommend you do so.
Watching this afterwards will give you an Awww effect you shouldn`t miss. If I had to pick my favourite performance it would be James Mcavoy as Charles Xavier. This guy has some amazing range in acting and you just can`t dislike this man, he is just to likable especially as the confident and intelligent Xavier.
I would say go see it but let`s face it, if you like comic book movies you already have.
