Review of X-Men: First Class (2011) by Archer F — 20 Aug 2014
A very good origins addition to the franchise with a very sturdy and confident Matthew Vaughn at the helm, injecting some much needed humour, well handled action scenes and a great new cast! Michael Fassbender steals the show once again as a young Magneto and his story involving revenge on Nazi's is the most gripping of events that take place.
That said, the rest of the cast including James McAvoy as young professor X and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique are also on very good form. Kevin Bacon turns up as villainous nazi mutant Sebastian Shaw and makes for an unlikeable and convincingly cruel bad guy! Definitely a much needed reboot of the series after the muddled Last Stand and the terrible Wolverine Origins!
