Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) by Simon D — 13 May 2016
The Last Stand was obviously not a one-off prequel because Mcavoy is back in this one unfortunately. Here he tasked with the job of proving to us that Xavier wasn't always a straight-laced goody goody, a tough job not done very well.
Either this film contains a few flaws or I wasn't paying enough attention in the previous two. It has Ellen Page's mutant sending Wolverine back in time, which I don't remember her being able to do in the last one, so she must have developed another mutation in addition to the ability to be able to walk through things.
What was even more confusing was that it was Magneto and Xavier who set this up. As far as I remember Xavier had a nasty accident a couple of films ago that meant that he shouldn't be in this film but there he was and no explanation was given; perhaps Ellen Page sent someone back to prevent this accident and we just take that as given due to her new talents.
So either this is the case, or I missed something, or the makers of these films know full well that, after a while, they all blend into a little dull memory and so there really isn't any risk in making a few continuity errors.
