Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) by Chris D — 25 Sep 2016
Bigger, louder, more outrageous and more complex. The spectacle is grandiose, the emotional stakes high and that mindfuck of a script a league of its own. But it must be said that, with so much going on, a lot of characters stay on the sidelines; at the same time it's quite hard to follow everything, and that diminishes the overall pleasure.
I'm pretty sure there are a few dark spots in the plot as well. It's a very ambitious film and pays off on several levels but that ambition is a curse too.
