Review of Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014) by Kevin R — 23 Aug 2015
You're fucking normal!
A virus outbreak turns everyone but a few with a certain blood type into zombies. Barry is a family man with a wife and son that losses both to the outbreak. Meanwhile, his sister is kidnapped and held hostage by a sinister doctor conducting crude experiments. Barry will need to team with other survivors to track down his sister and rescue her; meanwhile, his sister does her best to escape and find Barry.
"This is for your own good.".
Kiah Roache-Turner delivers Wyrmwood: Road to the Dead in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is very entertaining and well done. The plot isn't particularly imaginative, but it is perfectly executed with great action and gore scenes. The acting is fairly average and the cast includes Jay Gallagher, Bianca Bradey, Keith Agius, Luke McKenzie, and Catherine Terracini.
"I shot my wife and son with a nail gun. I don't know how to make that into a story.".
I have seen a bunch of good reviews and posts from friends when this was added to the Netflix queue so I decided to give it a shot. It was very entertaining. I wouldn't say it was better than It Follows, but it was well done and a great addition to the genre. I really hope they make a sequel. This is definitely a must see and worth adding to your DVD collection.
"Around them or through them?".
Grade: B.
