Review of Wyatt Earp (1994) by Brad S — 26 Aug 2013
While I admire his attempt to tell the story of Wyatt Earp, director Lawrence Kasdan's biopic suffers like so many biopics from trying to tell way too long of a story stretched over way too many years of Earp's life.
Costner is not believable in some of his younger and older costumes, as is the same for many of the characters. But the biggest weakness is the story just simply not being compelling. It's boring throughout and just goes on and on and on.
The plot is very rote and lethargic. Nevertheless, there is some strong craftsmanship here in the production design, and a good performance from Dennis Quaid as Doc Holliday. But it's not enough to lift this film from mediocrity.
