Review of Wuthering Heights (2011) by Nick R — 14 Nov 2011
Well this was different. A film you won't forget, which is no mean feat these days. Not a film that Hollywood could or would have made, a real feeling for the forces of nature and the link between the natural world and human behaviour that Thomas Hardy or DH Lawrence would have recognised.
Some startling images and some shocking ones too. It tended to flag a little towards the end, and threatened to turn into a BBC adaptation of Jane Austen, but took a very different turn in the end. A fresh new cast and a fresh new take on this story.
Recommended.
