This adaptation captured the passion, hate, strife, tension, and violence of Wuthering Heights. Binoche's Catherine is playfull, mischievous, and at times cruel and Finnes plays Heathcliff like is a hurt animal: vengeful and sadistic.
Though Laurence Olivier's Heathcliff captured some of his vengeful qualities, he was nevertheless too polite and gentleman-like.
