Review of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007) by Alberto C — 12 Jul 2010
Some of you may actually be surprised that I even remotely like this movie, and guess what, I am too. The thing that makes this film superior to the original in every way is that it doesn't take itself seriously at all. It is nothing more than a stupid slasher loaded with gore, violence, and toilet humor, and thank god the director knows it.
Wrong Turn 2 takes a different approach than the first film. Instead of a bunch of college type kids being slaughtered mercilessly because they were stupid and decided to drive down the most creepy ass country road they could find, Wrong Turn 2 features a bunch of stupid adults being slaughtered mercilessly becuase they decided to host a game show in the most creepy ass forest they could find. What ensues is two hours of mindless, ridiculous fun and violence.
The acting is nothing special in this movie. Every character delivers every line with such a wooden (or overblown) expression that it's impossible to believe these people are real. That being said, I think the movie case said it best, Rollins rules, even though his acting is no better than eny of the other cast members.
Wrong Turn 2 is good stupid fun, and it's easy to recommend to anyone that likes horror films. It isn't a great movie, but hey, it doesn't need to be.
