Review of Written on the Wind (1956) by Andrew N — 08 Jun 2007
Melodrama can be art and this film proves that to be true. Every single aspect of cinema is used to its fullest potential of artistic expression. Sets clearly stand out as being constructed to symbolise how artificial the world is.
Passion is shown through the colors as well as the ficus on certain objects. The film brilliantly works as a trajedy even if the two main characters end up together at the end.
