Review of Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007) by Emma S — 29 May 2009
One of the weirdest love stories that I have seen and probably one of my favorite. It tells the story of a guy who killed himself, only to find that all of those who kill themselves go to a place just like this world, but just a little worse.
A premise that I really enjoyed for it's originality. The characters are what make this really worthwhile. You've got the main guys looking for his lover from the real life, the loveable Russian jerk, and the girl looking for the way back home.
Each actor does a teriffic job portraying each of their characters. Will Arnett has a small part that is oddly almost his character from Arrested Development, which I thought was pretty funny. While it has it's funny moments it doesn't have anything that will have you in stiches.
If I had to I'd compare it to other black comedies like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Sunshine Cleaning, or In Bruges. Even though the premise deals with suicide, this is actually a pretty feel good movie.
It will definately have you feeling great long after it is done! Simply put just a wonderful movie!!
