Review of Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007) by Rick S — 15 Sep 2009
Quirky and imaginative with a very fitting and effective photographic approach, but ultimately very flat and without purpose.
The Deus Ex Machina conclusion seems to throw out what the entire movie was about and provide a happy ending just for audiences, which incidentally, is the exact reason the ending was changed from the short story. It's like taking Romeo and Juliet and after the deaths of the two, the Montagues and Capulets continue their war and do not learn that their bickering will be the downfall.
