Review of Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007) by Ben D — 08 Jan 2010
I give it points for having a great title and being creative. Also, Tom Waits! Tom Waits is in this, the man and his music. He is living in a world where people go when they've committed suicide, not much unlike the world we already live in, but blander.
The people seem strangely happier here though, and look for what they were missing in life. It's nice knowing finally what happened to that guy that starred in Almost Famous (the kid), he's in this too.
He meets a girl and they go on a roadtrip through the afterlife with a buddy. That's a great idea, isn't it? A roadtrip movie through a suicidal afterlife with Tom Waits as a guide you keep meeting up with? This movie should be the best ever, and yet, I don't think it is.
It should have been SO much better. I was let down. Such a great premise though.
