Review of Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007) by J L — 18 Jul 2010
Wristcutters. Not exactly the most enticing title, especially when paired with "A Love Story." It sounds like some dark, depressing movie that follows the classic Indie film plot. A boy and a girl separate and the boy goes on a roadtrip with low quality casset tapes, sunglasses, and beer.
The only difference is that they're all. Well. Dead.
So many movies today are repeats of previous films that date back to the early silent movies. Where's the fun in that? I've yet to find a movie that is the same as this. I've seen it over 20 times and haven't tired of it and I could watch it 100 more and still love it all the same.
Despite what the title and genre may imply, Wristcutters is a cutting edge love story with just the right amount of dark comedy thrown in to make it an enjoyable, funny, all around 5 star movie.
