Review of Wrestlemaniac (2006) by Mexijersey M — 06 Apr 2008
This movie is definitely a B-movie, which doesn't make it bad by definition, but this movie sure as hell wasn't a good B-movie. In general it sounds OK, having a crazy Lucha Libre Wrestler who rips of faces instead of masks.
Actually, that aspect was good, but the victims sucked. It wasn't just that they were stupid (characters have to be stupid to make crap horror movies more interesting), but their premise, motivation, and skills were just stupid.
How did that girl fix the totally wrecked van with zero tools? Some of the face ripping effects were good, but most of the missing face effects were crap. It looked like their faces were covered in jam, not ripped off like Nicholas Cage's face was in Face/Off.
Rey Misterio was OK as the killer, but they didn't really play up any wrestling at all. Overall, this film was just far too one-dimensional to be considered good. Plus, on the commentary, all they did was whine about how they lost their location and that's why the movie wasn't good.
Cry me a river. Ugh.
