Review of Wrecked (2010) by Donald M — 14 Jul 2011
I knew absolutely nothing about this flick when I watched it which made it a little exciting, but like the old saying goes "if I knew then, what I know now..." If I had to use a 25 letter word to describe this flick, it would be: "Booooooooooooooooooooring".
There have been a few movies before this one with basically a one man cast that blew me away (Cast Away, Moon, to name a couple) and with Adrien Brody as the one man band, I had hoped it would rank up there with the best of them.
Sadly, this was not the case. There are so many scenes that aren't really happening to the character that by the middle of the movie, it's hard to tell what reality is. There is not nearly enough story here to justify this being 90+ minutes.
They should've trimmed it down to 30 or 40, called it a short story and moved on. Instead what we get is a really dragged out story of survival with very little to no plot whatsoever and extremely horrible editing.
The only thing saving this movie from getting zero stars is Brody, who gives a decent performance with the material he's been given. But on a side note, Brody, you're better than these dime a dozen straight to video flicks you seem to churn out every couple of months.
I'm not counting you out yet.
