Review of Wrecked (2010) by David Ray G — 13 Aug 2011
What a wreck! (pun intended) This movie probably takes the "Most Disappointing and Silly Ending Ever" award. The whole movie was building up to...THAT? As I read in a forum somewhere, the moral of the movie is indeed "always wear your seatbelt." Would have been a nice short film, but for 90 minutes long, it's unbelievably tiring and slow.
I enjoyed Adrien Brody's performance. I loved the moments he had with the dog. And the time he spends in the car at the beginning is reminiscent of European cinema. The music and photography were very beautiful, and it is suspenseful on occasions. But despite those positives, it's still a very boring and pointless piece of film.
The last movie Greenspan directed before this was in 2002, and it makes me wonder: "did he come back after almost 10 years with THIS?" Plus, all his previous movies have been short ones - he knew better back then.
