Review of Wreck-It Ralph (2012) by Sahara K — 13 May 2014
Fun, colorful, adorable and just plain and simply enjoyable. I have been meaning to watch this for ages. Since it came out in fact, and altough previously I have seen bits of it, its not until now I have seen it in full.
What I liked most about this is that it's not just a homage to other video games- it stands on it's own and has it's own and interesting plot, in short it has depth. The characters are complex each with there own motivations and personality.
It's the similarities of motivations, that they both want to be respected and be themselves is why the relationship between Ralph and Vanellpoe captivated me so much an I thought it was really realistic.
There was also some frighting scenes which I wasn't expecting but I enjoyed it that much more because of it such as when King Candy reveals to the audience and Vanellope who he really is and at the climax where he is fighting Wreck-it Ralph.
King Candy/Turbo's line "Let's watch her die together, shall we?" was absolutely chilling seeing the differences between both of their reactions. On a brighter note the voice acting was great as they all matched their characters and the music was fantastic.
A great film worth watching.
