Review of Woyzeck (1979) by Zeeshan M — 18 Aug 2007
In spite of its unevenness and partially underwhelming execution, Herzog's damning indictment of society and social forces is inescapably loud. It's a nearly affecting portrait of torment and insanity.
I do want to know what the unbelievably tortured piece of music featured repeatedly in the film is called. Herzog's less blaring critique of society done with less provocation and through different subject(s) "strange enigma of kaspar hauser" is probably a better film but it might be an unfair comparison.
