Review of World War Z (2013) by Stephen J — 30 Oct 2014
Loosely based upon the book by the same name, World War Z provides a decent enough viewing experience but its flaws are too loud to be quieted by Pitt's performance. The rising action, climax, and resolution of the plot are executed in seemingly implausible way.
SPOILER ALERT: Brad Pitt's character is dispatched to investigate the virus causing humans to morph into zombies (who demonstrate inconsistent mannerisms and behaviors), Pitt concludes based upon observing three people survive zombie swarms that those three people must be sick, and then decides sickness must be the camouflage of those who fight the zombies.
I'm not quite sure why Pitt has to investigate much of anything if the solution to the virus is solely based upon his lucky guesses. Overall, the movie passes time and offers suspenseful moments, but be prepared to check your brain at the door.
