World War Z is pretty much a zombie movie on crack cocaine, and has Brad Pitt being Brad Pitt in it.

I'm a massive fan of the novel by Max Brooks of the same title that this film is supposedly based on, so when I heard that they were making an upcoming film adaptation, I was beyond excited. I love zombies, and the book itself is probably the finest example of zombie literature ever written, so there was no real excuse for the film to be anything but good, right?..... Right?

The movie isn't by any means terrible. There are more than a few pulse pounding scenes of PG-13 zombie carnage that are visually stunning due to the sheer size and scope of the scenarios. The acting on a general level was pretty good, but this movie is more about flash and style, as opposed to characters. Speaking of characters, Brad Pitt was an extremely big omen in this movie. Like, it's almost as if his arrival alone sparked the zombies into doing some really horrible shit. Apart from that, there are some pretty gaping plot holes, and the finale of the film, while intense, was kind of a let down compared to the other locations Brad Pitt sent to shit.

While the film would probably stand better on its own as opposed to an adaptation of a truly phenomenal book, it is still a pretty decent zombie flick even with its pacing and plot flaws.
