Review of World War Z (2013) by Jin T — 06 Aug 2015
I'm not much of a fan of movies that Brad Pitt is in but his performance are always good on my book. Not only that but I knew what I was going in for when this is another zombie movie. The movie didn't give much background on Brad Pitt's character but I guess it was enough to know that he is a veteran soldier.
The whole time I thought it was gonna be a tragic end for Gerry Lane but the guy was pretty much calm in every pressured situation. Which tells me a lot about Gerry and his composure. The beginning starts it off like a rocket going into space and it doesn't stop there halfway through the movie.
The zombies totally remind me of the infected in The Last of Us and I can assure you that they are quite different in comparison. They only reminded me of the infected because of they sounded like. Which makes me wonder if World War Z is one of the stuff that is an inspiration to The Last of Us.
There were a couple of characters that were quite annoying and sometimes I don't like that, especially in a movie like World War Z but that's just me. Other than that, I did enjoy watching the movie and there two that jumped me out of my seat but nothing else that made me truly scared.
Otherwise, if it happened in real life than I would be for sure. I like to point out the CGI (computer generated imagery a.k.a. computer graphics). I didn't like it at all. It made the movie so unrealistic and it really threw me off on being immersive into the story.
I don't know if it's because this movie came out in 2013 but there are movies even in that year that made CGI still look good even today. You can really tell in some scenes has CGI zombies and some scenes has actual extras in their zombies costumes and makeup which I think was really surreal.
The movie was enjoyable and it's awesome to see Peter Capaldi, the 12th Doctor, to be in this movie. I didn't even know Ruth Negga was in this one as well. You might all recognize her character Raina in Marvel's Agents of S.
H.I.E.L.D.
