Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Peter V — 12 Mar 2009
I really don't get why some are so down on this film. I thought it was amazing. It's a very well made, emotional telling of a true survival story and the kindness that made the rescue possible.
Does it shamelessly pull at the heart strings? Of course it does, I cried through the whole movie, but what film about 9/11 wouldn't? I really don't think this is Oliver Stone capitalizing on the still fresh wounds that 9/11 left.
This is Oliver Stone showing how it went down for these two officers. I thought he did a wonderful job recreating the scenes from that day. Granted, I wasn't there, and I know the actual event was much more intense and emotional, but a lot of care and a lot of talent went into this and I for one was touched by it.
The filmmaking and the story.
